Airocide's proprietary Photocatalytic Oxidation UV light technology is far more effective than HEPA filtration at eliminating mold, odor, COVID, and other germs and pathogens from the air. Not only do top businesses worldwide depend on Airocide air purifiers to ensure the safety of their patrons and staff, NASA also trusted Airocide's air cleaners to disinfect the International Space Station.

Airocide is safe and environmentally friendly, and the U.S. Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified it as a Class II Medical Device. No emissions. No ozone. No toxic byproducts. Eradication of airborne viruses is assured.

To efficiently deliver the best indoor air quality in any physical location, we supply three different models of airocide product lines.

Far more effective than HEPA filtration, Airocide's special Photocatalytic Oxidation UV light technology gets rid of mold, odor, and other bacteria and diseases as well as airborne viruses like COVID. NASA uses Airocide air purifiers to clean the International Space Station, and top companies throughout the world rely on them to protect their customers and employees.

Utilizing technology developed and utilized by NASA, the New Airocide Filterless air purifier range is groundbreaking. The Airocide is an award-winning air purifier with a wide range of uses that is sure to remove mold, pet dander, airborne allergens, and dangerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air in your house. The filterless Airocide air cleaner is simple to use and, thanks to its striking look, will go well with any workplace or home decor. Additionally, because Airocide is filterless, it requires almost no maintenance. Airocide is designed to function in any size space and will safeguard your house or place of business around-the-clock.

About Airocide

Allow us to present to you Airocide by Airocide Air, an ozone-free, non-chemical air purification system. Developed using NASA technology, our commercial air sanitation system offers the latest in airborne cross-contamination protection for your company, your valuable brands, and your products. There are countless ways to effectively and affordably improve and protect business indoor air quality (IAQ).

The story of the Airocide, starting with NASA in space. The problem they were experiencing was ethylene gas (C2H4). The first astronauts assigned to NASA had to grow and care for their own crops. For astronaut farmers to experiment with harvesting enormous quantities of food crops, space-age greenhouses had to be built. Plants naturally generate ethylene, a colorless, odorless gas that accelerates the ripening of fruits, vegetables, and flowers and causes degradation.

In enclosed growing settings, such those found aboard spaceships or in terrestrial greenhouses, ethylene, a molecule composed of carbon and hydrogen, rapidly builds up and causes plants to mature too soon. Thus, preserving crops on Earth and in space depends on the elimination of ethylene gas. Because the removal of ethylene gas is of particular relevance to flower shops, cold storage facilities, and large supermarkets. The shelf life, storage life, and home life of their products are ultimately shortened if they don't.

By mineralizing organic substances (converting them into carbon dioxide and water vapor), Airocide totally eliminates airborne bacteria, mold, fungi, mycotoxins, viruses, allergies, volatile organic compounds (VOCs like ethylene), and odors. Furthermore, the commercial device does not produce or use ozone or any other potentially hazardous byproducts. The Airocide technology, which was successfully used within the shuttle to support crop development by removing ethylene gas and other airborne contaminants, was carried by the initial Space Shuttle Columbia mission STS-73.

The technology was first developed for the NASA space program and is based on groundbreaking research by NASA, the University of Wisconsin (UW), and the Wisconsin Center for Space Automation and Robotics (WCSAR). The Airocide commercial air filtering systems remove over 99.99% of the airborne viruses that flow through their processor using a patented technique. They are completely mineralized (destroyed) by Airocide, turning them into water vapor and carbon dioxide.

Airocide's air purification technique is shown to entirely eliminate Bacillus thuringiensis, a related of the anthrax bacteria, in a single reactor run.

Along with other bacteria, fungi, and viruses, the photocatalytic oxidation approach removes airborne Lactobacillus, which can be a problem in wine, beer, and other beverage and food processing facilities.

Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO)

To eradicate harmful airborne bacteria, Airocide's commercial air purification product uses a pathogen-killing technique that blends photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) with ultraviolet light. The oxidant used in PCO is oxygen, which makes up 20% of our air. Since the amount of oxygen in the air is significantly greater than the (total) concentration of gaseous indoor air pollutants (H202), the use of additional oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide or ozone (O3) is not necessary. Ozone is not produced by the system.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used as a photocatalyst. A unique process is used to create the patented TiO2 mixture that covers the catalyst material. When this material is exposed to UV photons from the inside lamps, hydroxyl radicals and superoxide ions are produced. Adsorbed volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on the catalyst surface will be oxidized by these substances, resulting in the reduction of the VOCs to trace levels of water and carbon dioxide. They will also destroy and degrade airborne viruses. Since the organic material on the catalyst surface is completely oxidized by this process, the photocatalytic reactor is self-cleaning.

The History of PCO

PCO has gained popularity recently as a way to remediate gaseous pollution and microbes. Over the past 25 years, construction methods have emphasized the creation of compact structures to reduce the cost of heating and cooling the interior spaces. However, if there is insufficient ventilation, the concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) may increase. One possible cause of sick building syndrome is indoor air pollution, which is exacerbated by unwanted volatile organic compounds.

PCO, which was first described in a published paper on photoreactivity (the precursor to PCO), has a number of possible applications. Gas phase PCO investigations are quite rare in comparison to the published research on the photocatalytic treatment of compounds in aqueous media. However, gas-solid PCO is becoming more and more well-liked because of its potential for use in interior pollution control, including as in factories, homes, offices, airplanes, and spacecraft in 1921. But it wasn't until 1971 that photocatalysis research began.

Airflow Explanation

The super pure air mixing and moving around the space via the room's natural and forced air movement improves the performance of Airocide Photocatalytic Air Purifying Systems from room to room, even though they are not integrated into or built into a building's central heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Essentially, the effectiveness of the Airocide system in a certain coverage area is increased by the HVAC system's interconnected ductwork. Airocide air purifiers can be mounted on the walls or ceiling of any room in a building as long as the space has an air conditioning/heating intake and air return. The advantages of these air purifiers are evident in adjacent rooms. This is how the air "communicates" in the adjacent and connected rooms.

Several airways pass through the Airocide system's photocatalytic chamber, where a chemical reaction creates over 99.99% clean air. This air then mixes with the remaining contaminated air to eliminate air pollution. The quantity of solid particles and gaseous contamination in the entire area is decreased after several hours of repetitive pure-to-contaminated mixing.

When fresh pollutants are introduced by opening doors to the outside, internally produced gaseous compounds, or human carriers of extra organic waste, the air purifying system keeps cleaning the air continuously. The secret to boosting its effectiveness is its ability to operate continuously and remove a very high single pass. Only extremely pure air is released from the system, together with trace amounts of water vapor and carbon dioxide.

An Airocide unit mixes with the air in a room or building to eliminate contaminants, just like the colored water in this glass would eventually disperse throughout the entire vessel.
